QuantX helps defence innovation take flight
24 October 2023
Quantum technology firm, QuantX Labs, has launched a breakthrough concept in defence innovation, with the opening of its collaborative workspace, RavensNest.
RavensNest was officially opened by South Australian Premier the Hon Peter Malinauskas MP and Australia’s Chief Defence Scientist Professor Tanya Monro. The new capability accelerator is set to super-charge the local defence innovation ecosystem by allowing industry to work alongside defence and university researchers, as well as the Australian Defence Force.
The environment has been designed to offer the opportunity for transformative technologies to be fast-tracked from research through to sovereign capability, answering the most urgent problems for Defence and ensuring that “ideas and inventions will take flight.”
Currently, RavensNest is home to staff from the Defence Science and Technology Group, University of Adelaide researchers and QuantX Labs, with like-minded partners and collaborator invited to join the venture.
This announcement follows the news that QuantX Labs has partnered with global small satellite supplier Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) to send their locally made quantum technology into space.
Through the partnership, the company’s advancement in quantum technology will be taken to new heights with the KAIROS mission, which will launch a next-generation optical atomic clock into low Earth orbit and revolutionise space-based position, navigation and timing capabilities.
